Local Insights
Romoland has a population of 12,790, and with a steady growth rate of 0.40% annually the area is seeing gradual, sustained demand for home improvement and targeted construction rather than a rapid building boom. As part of a broader metro region of about 7.9+ million people, local projects tend to follow metro trends—more outdoor living upgrades, drainage improvements, and low-maintenance landscaping. The local climate—about 204 sunny days per year combined with 49.77 inches of annual rainfall and a USDA hardiness zone of 9a—creates a particular need for materials that manage both heavy rainfall and strong sun exposure. Homeowners and contractors require reliable bulk supplies (dirt, sand, gravel, mulch, and stone) that support drainage, erosion control, and durable surfacing for patios, pathways, and perimeter grading.

I work for an industrial construction company that deals with a lot of civil work, and I'm very accustomed to building a proper base with specific materials on projects we work on. The people at Hello Gravel were very pleasant to deal with. Prices are good. Unfortunately, the product I asked for wasn't available after paying for it, but they worked hard at ensuring I had a suitabe alternative. In the end, it all worked well, and the staff were very attentive. Lots of operators would not have gone through the trouble they did to make sure I was happy as a customer. Hello Gravel did

Measure the area (length x width) and decide the depth you need, then convert to cubic yards (1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet). Our online material calculator can convert those numbers to tons or cubic yards for gravel, sand, dirt, stone and other aggregates. Order slightly extra (5-10%) to allow for compaction and grading.
Weight varies by material and moisture, but most gravels and sands are about 1.2 to 1.7 tons per cubic yard. Lighter loose materials like mulch or dry topsoil can weigh noticeably less. Use our calculator or ask our team for a material-specific estimate for Romoland.
Coverage depends on material and desired depth, but as a rule of thumb 1 ton will cover roughly 60 to 100 square feet at a 2-inch depth. Denser materials cover less area and fluffy materials cover more, so treat this as a starting estimate. Use the calculator or give us project dimensions for a precise estimate.
Bulk purchases are usually more cost-effective per ton or cubic yard for medium to large projects, while bags make sense for very small jobs or when storage is limited. Keep in mind Hello Gravel’s minimum order is 3 tons, so compare bag costs against that minimum. For help deciding, use our calculator or contact our team with your project size.
Deliveries are made by local contracted dump trucks (typically tri-axle) and load size depends on truck type; a tri-axle commonly carries several tons. Hello Gravel handles scheduling and delivery detail but does not operate branded trucks. Request your desired delivery date at checkout and confirm truck size with our team if you need a specific load amount.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this is not guaranteed and depends on site access and safety. You can request spreading at checkout and the driver will assess feasibility upon arrival. If spreading is required, consider hiring a landscape crew or arranging additional services ahead of delivery.
Choose based on function: drainage needs, load-bearing requirements, desired appearance, and maintenance level. For example, compactable materials suit driveways while loose decorative aggregates work for garden paths. Use our material quiz or contact sales with project details for guidance tailored to Romoland’s local conditions.
Because Hello Gravel sources materials regionally, color and texture can vary based on local geology, so exact matches to images are not guaranteed. You can add color or texture preferences in Order Notes, and we’ll pass them to the supplier. If appearance is critical, request a small test delivery or ask for a sample photo before final delivery.
Standard delivery is generally 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Select your preferred delivery date during checkout and we will confirm scheduling with the local hauler. Keep in mind site access and local traffic can affect exact timing.
Contact our customer service team as soon as possible; changes are easiest before the order is dispatched and we will do our best to accommodate requests. If there is an issue on delivery, report it promptly and we will work with the supplier and hauler to resolve it according to our policies. Refer to the refund and issue resolution guidance on our site for next steps.
